Detailed Narrative Description of Project:

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has undertaken a program through a Japanese Consulting Firm Earth System Science (ESS) to conduct study in the coastal districts of Bangladesh on awareness of early warning system of the cyclone and other disaster. Under this project, KMC Ltd. was employed to conduct Socio-economic Survey (SES), Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and preparation of reports as per guideline of the JICA and ESS.

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by your Staff:

- Assisted the Japanese ESS team in developing survey tools

- Conducted interviews with Government and local government representatives and other active bodies (Cyclone Preparedness Program etc) in 12 coastal districts

- Conducted consultation meeting with the local people, Union, Upazila and district level on Disaster Management 

- Collected data both primary and secondary about early warning and disaster information system,

- Visited local weather forecast stations, community radios and

- Prepared SES, FGD report
