Narrative Description of Project:

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has undertaken the project: “Environment and Social Impact Assessment Studies for Designated River Routes, Vessels Shelters and Ferry Crossing” with financial support from the World Bank. Project areas are Dhaka, Munshigonj, AshuganjGajaria, Chandpur, Shariatpur, Chittagong, Barisal, Lakshmipor, Bhola, Beduria and Laharhat. Institute of Water Modelling (IWM) has been selected as consultant to undertake the study. KMC Ltd. Has been deployed as Sub-consultant to IWM to undertake social studies and preparation of safeguard documents i.e. Social Impact Assessment, Social Management Framework and Consultation report.
